DE PROFUNDIS Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement

London, U.K.-based progressive doom metal band DE PROFUNDIS has parted ways with bassist Aleksej Obradovic due to "musical differences." Additionally, Aleksej's job commitments would have made it very hard for the group to do any touring or perform live on a regular basis. A replacement bass player has already been found in the shape of Arran McSporran, who previously played with SEVEN7.

Arran will be laying down all the bass tracks on the new DE PROFUNDIS album, due to be recorded in June 2009 with producer Fernando Pereira (MISANTHROPE, ORAKLE). He will also make his live debut with DE PROFUNDIS at Romania's Rock City Open Air 2009 festival.

DE PROFUNDIS supported IRON MAIDEN at the Rock In India festival, which was held on February 15 at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore, India.

The band's debut album, "Beyond Redemption", was self-released on August 21, 2007. The CD was recorded and mixed by Steve Watkins at Warehouse Studios, Oxford and was mastered by Tim Turan, who has worked with such artists as OPETH, EMPEROR, DIMMU BORGIR and AT THE GATES.

Delivering unique-sounding progressive extreme metal, DE PROFUNDIS has many genre-bridging elements to their sound spanning across death, black and doom metal right through to jazz and progressive rock. The band also boasts an original logo by none other than the black metal legend Christophe Szpajdel.
